Soul and Soil is a project designed to promote the resilience and vitality of individuals, communities and local ecosystems in response to the volatility of the modern world. This is achieved through coaching, education and workshops that blend land-based skills education and ecotherapy with community initiatives.
Who is this for?
The aim is to support sensitive and unconventional people who see the ecological and socioeconomic troubles at hand, and who want to make a meaningful difference in the world, but feel overwhelmed and hopeless about it all. People who cannot and will not accept the current state of affairs, and who believe deep down that we - individually and collectively - are capable of creating a world that is beautiful, abundant, equitable, and where all lifeforms can thrive in perpetuity.
COACHING
With the world becoming increasingly volatile, no wonder so many of us feel that it’s all we can do to survive, let alone to live rich, fulfilling lives and to create positive change in the world. It is particularly hard to do this in the isolation widespread in the modern west, and this is where coaching can be an incredible aid.
As a coach with a unique blend of experience in the worlds of permaculture and mental health care - and unshakable belief in human potential - my passion and specialty is in supporting conscientious people to create lives they feel proud of, casting aside the expectations of conventional society to fully embrace their innate power and creativity, and to step forward with unparalleled passion and purpose.
Our collaboration begins with a deep exploration of your values and desires, shaping a vision of your dream life, and a clear-eyed assessment of the unique obstacles that interfere with your self-realization. With this foundation in place, we take time to craft compelling, detailed and achievable goals, complete with timelines and contingency measures.
Beyond the guidance and reflection provided in these early steps, this relationship delivers even greater value as you step into action. Progress inevitably involves obstacles, and motivation can be a fickle beast, so when you do hit these roadblocks, it’s indispensable to have the counsel, accountability and encouragement provided by someone who understands and truly has your back. Someone to walk with you through the roughest moments and to celebrate your hard-earned victories.
If you feel a deep and perpetual longing for a more meaningful, creative and connected life, but find yourself struggling to get there, I would love to help! Nothing excites me more than to see good people stepping into their power, knowing that when we do, that is when things change and the world begins to heal.
I invite you to get in touch with me, tell me a bit about yourself, and together let’s write the opening chapter of your new life!
EDUCATION
Soul and Soil exists to answer the question, what can we as individuals and communities do to stem or turn the rising tide of alienation, ecological collapse and socioeconomic chaos? At this wildly unprecedented moment in time, what is in our power to change, and how do we do it? How could the troubles we face actually be amazing opportunities for us to create lives of incredible passion and purpose?
I explore these questions with guidance and inspiration from the practical and ethical framework of permaculture and the idyllic vision of solarpunk. My work as an educator can be found in videos on the Soul and Soil YouTube channel, as well as in written explorations appearing in my blog on this website and on Substack. These materials are available free of cost (but donations are more than welcome!)
In these articles and videos, I delve into topics ranging from urban food gardening to mutual aid, from herbal foraging and nervous system regulation to how we can reduce our reliance on corporate and institutional power structures. The purview of this project is immense, and I’m not an expert in all areas, but I share from a unique wealth of experience and from the perspective of a devoted student of life.
As I develop this project and my resources further, I will be offering in-person workshops that blend land-based skill-building, ecotherapy and community improvement initiatives across Canada, and potentially farther abroad.
