Music is Magic
Sylvain was exposed early to a wide variety of musical influences, growing up in the classical world, and absorbing everything from jazz, punk and progressive rock to ambient and avant garde. He began to play piano as a child, then bass and guitar as he entered his teens, and never ceased broadening his musical horizons. At age fifteen, he began producing crude recordings with whatever gear was accessible, and this marked the beginning of a lifelong love of recording.
Over the years, Sylvain explored many different corners of the musical world and learned to play a variety of instruments, fuelling an insatiable hunger for new and intriguing sounds. He played with a few bands and collaborators, but always maintained an unparalleled love of “painting with sound” in the studio, more of a spiritual practice than a social pursuit. As time rolled on, he found himself increasingly drawn to simplicity and texture in music, and today leans heavily into a blend of ambient, folk, jazz and electronic elements.
